FAQ

How are WAMI nominees and winners chosen?

Nominations and awards are determined by the votes of WAMI members in good standing along with input by the Board of Directors. Voting is conducted annually through the WAMI website. WAMI Awards are presented in major categories that include Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. WAMI Awards also honor musicians by genre and instrument. Additionally, WAMI Awards are given for industry categories that include best recording studio and best engineer.

The People’s Choice Awards and nominees are determined by voting from the general public, with honors given in each quadrant of the state. People’s Choice categories include best teacher, fan, radio station, artist and venue.

Additional details on voting for the 41st WAMI Awards Show –to include the voting period and our 2022 categories – will be released at a later date.

How are the WAMI award categories chosen?

WAMI categories have changed throughout the years to reflect changes in the music industry, and in the interest of keeping the number of awards manageable. Categories are determined by the Board of Directors based on input from artists and an analysis of member votes to determine interests and current trends.
